Fun Fact: Queen of Sheba’s Pistachio Greed

16.09.20 /

Fun Fact Alert! Have you ever opened a bag of #pistachio nuts and before you know it, you’re down to the last piece? We can’t blame you! There’s something about pistachios that’s deliciously addicting that even royalties can’t resist. Case in point — did you know that the Queen of Sheba (present-day Yemen), the monarch who’s famed for giving King Solomon a caravan of precious gifts, is said to be a pistachio fanatic? Legend has it that the Queen loved pistachios so much that she demanded — yes, demanded — that all of her kingdom’s pistachios be reserved for her and her court? Her “pistachio greed” reached a point that she made it illegal for commoners to grow pistachio trees! Aren’t we so lucky that we can all enjoy our beloved pistachios today without the fear of getting arrested? We can even use pistachios in different forms such as pistachio powder from #SaffronAndMore in our everyday cooking.
