Happy Hour with Saffron & More: Persian-Inspired Cocktails Masterclass @ EBS Sydney

26.03.21 /

Another milestone unlocked for us here at Saffron and More as we were recently invited by the Sydney European Bartender School to lead a Persian cocktail masterclass featuring our premium Iranian ingredients. Attended by mixologists from all over Sydney as well as lover-of-everything-Persian and foodie extraordinaire Franz Scheurer, great flavours flowed with 8 Persian-inspired cocktails that all spelled happy hour:

🍸 Desert Flower – a gorgeous cocktail that blossoms with lemon sorbet, champagne, saffron water and vodka

🍸 Mount Damavand – a cocktail inspired by Iran’s highest peak, it’s a bourbon-based cocktail made zesty with orange triple sec, lemon juice and tangy #barberry syrup

🍸 Garmeh – named after a village oasis, it’s a unique mix of rye whisky, sweet pomegranate syrup, pounded #saffronrockcandy and the anise flavours of Peychaud’s bitters

🍸 Sunrise in Isfahan – a simple yet pleasant combo of Saffron, cardamom and rose tea, brown Flor de Caña rum and sugar syrup

🍸 Khahju Bridge Mocktail – inspired by one of Iran’s finest bridges, it’s black tea with saffron rock sugar candy, saffron strands and barberries and a kick with a few drops of green Tabasco

🍸 Omani Tommy’s – a tequila-based cocktail sweetened with agave syrup plus a zing of lemon. Served in a glass rimmed with dried Omani lime powder and fine salt

🍸 Everything Rosey – an easy to whip up pick me up. Just prosecco or any sparkling wine, soda water, #rosewater, simple sugar syrup and garnished with #rosepetals

🍸 Bring on Saffron – earthy and mysterious, the start of this cocktail is saffron mixed with club soda and vodka

The shaker was rustling all day as baristas poured one magical cocktail after another. We can’t wait for you all to serve the recipes we shared in your own bars one day! Shoutout to Media Creator Australia for putting together this reel. Cheers!

While I think of myself as an Aussie, I’m also proud as punch of my Iranian heritage. So much so, in 2013, I created a business built around the mouth-watering delicacies of Persia; bringing you flavours of the real Iran. I wanted to create a space at the table for the golden-petaled spice: Persian Saffron.
